The Wedding of Lynsey & Steve - The Old Rectory - July 2011

Last July I had the pleasure of photographing the wonderful wedding of Lynsey and Steve at The Old Rectory. I was very excited as it was not only my first time shooting a wedding at The Old Rectory which is a charming venue built in 1837, but it would also be my first outdoor wedding.

A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony

When I woke to a bright sunny day I could not help but smile and knew that the bride Lynsey would also be pleased that her outdoor ceremony would go ahead as planned. When I arrived the venue’s staff were busy preparing the house and grounds for the big day ahead and I was delighted to meet the florist who provided flowers for my own wedding four years ago and even more pleased that not only did she remember me but she even remembered the exact flowers I had! It was a lovely atmosphere and the venue’s staff especially Sian the wedding co-ordinator for the day were so friendly and helpful and welcoming which always makes my role on the day so pleasurable

Smiles and Giggles

I caught up with Lynsey in the Bridal suite who was busy being pampered, but as always completely relaxed with everything and taking it all in her stride. Lynsey has the greatest sense of humour, when we met for her wedding consultation she made me giggle and I was soon smiling away listening to the banta between her and her bridesmaid whilst I was busy photographing the details including her gorgeous dress.

I left Lynsey for a while to catch up with Steve and his Groomsmen who were also pretty relaxed, we had some fun photographing some cool and contemporary shots of all the guys before their guests starting to arrive and it was time for me to capture Lynsey’s final preparations. As she stepped into her wedding dress and posed for some bridal portraits; Lynsey looked stunning.

The Ceremony

The Outdoor ceremony was perfect. Lynsey looked beautiful & elegant as her proud father walked her down the red carpet to her awaiting groom. The couple exchanged wedding vows and rings and were soon pronounced Husband and Wife. Following the service I spent some time with the couple capturing some romantic shots including some with the father of the bride’s vintage MG that he had lovingly restored for the big day. Guests minlged in the garden sipping drinks in the sunshine and the cutest children enjoyed running around the venue’s beautiful gardens.

The day passed by so quickly and it was soon time for the guests to be seated for their wedding breakfast, there was just time for group photos, a confetti throw and a mock cake-cutting before it was time for myself to depart.

I really did have a lot of fun with this great couple and I am so pleased that they chose me to capture their special day.  I would just like to wish Lynsey & Steve a very long and happy marriage together.

The Wedding of Emma & Craig – 15th July 2011 – Channels Golf Club Essex

On Friday 15th July 2011 I had the great pleasure of photographing the Wedding of Emma and Craig an amazing couple that had been together more than 15 years, but anyone would have thought they were just teenagers in love. They were so clearly madly in love with each other and it was such a privilege to be chosen to photograph their special day.

Felt like an Old Best Friend

One of the lovely things about this wedding was that I felt like I had known the bride for a lifetime, like an old best friend. Emma is the proud and very talented owner of Nayworth Cottage Crafts and of course having liked each others facebook pages it was wonderful leading up to the wedding to receive news-feeds about her excitement and sneak peeks of all of the truly delightful little details that went into making this a very special wedding indeed.

Tea at the Cottage

I arrived early at Emma’s Mum’s cottage in Southminster and was immediately offered a cup of tea… bliss! Just what I needed to kick start the day! Bridal Prep was well underway with make-up and hair being applied and a wonderful feeling of love, warmth and excitement filled the cottage as the sun blazed through the windows and I knew it would be a great day. I was soon joined by the very talented Carolyn Burton a photographer and good friend who was going to second shoot for me on the day and I was excited to work with her again. Time at the cottage soon whizzed by and then it was onto the local church to meet the boys!

A Traditional Church Service

We met Craig and his Groomsmen at the Church the sun was blazing at this point and we had to find some shade to capture some cool shots of all the guys before guests started to arrive. A traditional church service followed and the couple were soon pronounced Husband and Wife. They were clearly overjoyed and could not stop smiling! After the service there was time for a few shots at the church before everyone made their way to the reception at Channels Golf Club.

An Elegantly Vintage Wedding

We arrived at Channels Golf Club and I took Emma & Craig off for some romantic shots of just the two of them together. They were so much fun, happy to try anything and even had their own ideas and well.  I could have photographed them all day! I love the shot in the car wing mirror and the veil blowing in the wind. When we finished their photographs I asked our bride and groom to walk through the tree lined path towards their guests who greeted them with an almighty cheer and lots of hugs and kisses followed.

I know I have said it before but Emma really did put so much time and thought into her wedding details and creating a very unique and personalised day that reflected them perfectly. Emma adores vintage and had created a perfect vintage themed wedding and when I saw the room laid for their wedding breakfast I was blown away. The flowers by Lily & May looked simply stunning and there were so many hand crafted details many made by Emma herself including the place name cards and table plan that looked so elegantly vintage.

It was soon time for guests to be seated for the wedding breakfast followed by some great speeches which had everybody in fits of laughter to tears and then back to fits of laughter! As the evening begun to get underway guests tucked into the very yummy looking candy buffet, children filled the dance floor and everyone enjoyed watching the sunset on this beautiful long Summers evening.

I stayed to capture first dance and would have loved to have stayed and partied with this great couple all night, but with a wedding to photograph the following day it was time for me to leave the happy couple to dance the night away with friends and family.

Thank you so much Mr and Mrs Barnaby-Gentry for making me feel so welcome on your special day and for choosing me to capture those precious memories for you both. I wish you both a future filled with love, laughter and happiness always

The Wedding of Sally and Lee – August 2011 – The Lawn, Essex

In August 2011 I had the pleasure of photographing the Wedding of  a lovely young couple Sally and Lee at The Lawns in Essex. I was super excited as it was my first time photographing a wedding at this truly stunning venue which offers a wealth of photographic opportunities and to top this off I knew from our planning meeting that Sally and Lee wanted some lovely photographs and appreciated that these can take time and so they ensured that their reception was long enough to allow for plenty of photographs aswell as time to mingle with their guests…Perfect I could not wait!

It was Hot

I think it is safe to say this was probably one of the hottest days of last year and I am glad that this time I remembered to apply some suncream before setting out for The Lawns! When I arrived the venue looked just as I remembered on my pre-wedding visit… just beautiful.

I started to take a few venue shots and get all of my equipment ready for the day and managed to capture a lovely shot of Sally looking over the balcony of the bridal suite, she kinda reminded me of a young Marilyn Monroe. The make-up artist soon arrived and bridal preparations were in full swing and I got to work capturing details and events as they unfolded.

My Favourite Bridal Portrait

I could tell Sally was a little nervous, she reminded me so much of myself on my wedding day (I was a nervous wreck by the way, well at least until after our ceremony) and no Sally was not a nervous wreck at all but, I could just sense she was filled with emotion and I tried my best to make her feel at ease. She was also the perfect bride and was ready right on time which meant we had time for some lovely bridal portraits. There is a photograph of her on the gallery landing filled with warmth from all of the natural ambient light which is probably my most favourite bridal portrait of 2011 and one that I have hanging proudly in my office.

The Ceremony

Before the ceremony there was time for me to meet with Lee and his best-man to capture a handful of contemporary shots of the guys before guests started to arrive.  I think I should also take this opportunity to thank my wonderful Husband for all of his help on the day. I had planned to do the wedding on my own, but once I saw the venue and the grand staircase where the bride would make her entrance I knew I wanted him there so we could capture both aspects of the ceremony with me at the front and hubby capturing images from the gallery landing when Sally made her entrance and from the back during the ceremony,  I think he did a great job and I LOVE the ceremony photos. Once our happy couple were pronounced husband and wife they were beaming, so happy and also immediately relaxed. They were now Mr and Mrs Weller!..

Fun in the Sun

Following the service I took the couple off for some romantic shots together utilising the beautiful grounds. My favourite was probably them sitting on the steps with beautiful blue skies in the background. The guest looked on enjoying the sunshine, sipping drinks and soaking up the atmosphere of this very special day.

Emotional Speeches

I think everybody could have stayed on those lawns all day enjoying the lovely weather and chatting away but it was soon time for them to be seated for the wedding breakfast and on being announced into the room by their toastmaster Sally and Lee where greeted with an almighty cheer. The speeches moved everybody in the room including myself who had to wipe away a tear. Sadly both Sally and Lee each had a parent missing from the day who they would have loved to have been there to celebrate with them in person but, of course they knew they were with them in spirit, and I am sure looked on with immense pride as their children embarked on the next chapter in their lives.

A Perfect Summers Evening

Following the wedding breakfast there was still time for guests to enjoy the garden on this long warm summers evening and we managed to sneak in a few extra photographs of our Bride and Groom who were more than happy to pose including some photographs with their close friends. I think one of the things that stood out most for me at this wedding was what wonderful friends Sally & Lee have and how very close they all are. It was a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere and everybody was clearly delighted to share this special day.  Soon evening guests were arriving and it was time for Sally and Lee to take to the dance floor for their first dance and the looked great. Sally’s dress swished and swooshed perfectly as Lee spun her around the crowd cheered!

Thank you Sally & Lee for choosing me as your wedding photographer, it was a pleasure to work with such an endearing couple.

Essex Baby Photography – Louis, 8 Months

Essex Newborn Baby Photography – Welcome to the World Baby Roman

Meet Baby Roman who came to see me in January at just 6 days old the perfect time for a newborn session and he was an absolute angel throughout. It was a particularly special session to photograph for me as the couple Emma & Rob are friends of mine and I know they have waited a long time to finally hold their precious bundle of gorgeousness!  I could not be more happy for them both. The Wedding of Daniella & Daniel – Stock Brook Country Club – July 2011

Stock Brook Country Club is set on the outer fringes of the picturesque village of Stock, this Lutyen designed and inspired manor house enjoys space and breathtaking views over the 27 hole championship golf course and Essex countryside. Stock Brook was the perfect setting for the wedding of Daniella and Daniel, a young couple, very much in love, who clearly adored each other and their two year old son Jayden.

The Wedding Day Preparations – Greenwoods Hotel and Spa

The wedding day preparations begun at Greenwoods Hotel and Spa where the bridal party and family had stayed the previous evening. When I arrived pampering was well underway and the girls were actually ahead of schedule! I began to photograph all of the bridal details and finishing preparations and also captured Daniella receiving a surprise gift from her Hubby to be, a gorgeous pair of diamond ear-rings to wear on her wedding day. She was lost for words! It was soon time for Daniella to step into her stunning dress by designer Maggie Sottero. She looked jaw-droppingly beautiful, her father looked so proud as he posed for a shot with his eldest daughter before it was time to make their way to the ceremony. I dashed off ahead of the bridal party to meet our groom Daniel  and I was just in time to capture him arriving in style in a chauffeur driven Ferrari – a surprise wedding present from his Bride to Be.  As he pulled up to the entrance of Stock Brook Manor and was joined by his groomsmen we captured a handful of shots of the guys before everyone was ushered inside to await the imminent arrival of our bride.

Scene of a 1950′s Movie

Daniella arrived in a classic Rolls Royce with her father, she was a picture of beauty & elegance like a scene out of a 1950′s Movie as she stepped out of the car. The ceremony was very emotional as a tearful Daniella made her way down the red carpet to meet the man of her dreams. Her younger brother gave a heartfelt reading that was delivered impeccably leaving the whole congregation smiling and his family including big sister Daniella beaming with pride. The couple exchanged vows and were soon pronounced Husband and Wife – they looked so happy.

Following the service I took the happy couple off for some alone time to capture some romantic photographs together, whilst their guests looked on from the balcony, sipping champagne and soaking up the sun and the children played on the lawns.  It was a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, everybody was clearly delighted for this young happy couple and thrilled to be sharing their special day.

Pure Elegance

For me I would describe the day as pure elegance. Daniella put so much thought and planning into her dream wedding and it had really paid off. The setting for the wedding breakfast looked gorgeous, soft pinks and whites were perfect for this princess wedding which had a classical and romantic feel to the day.  Following the wedding breakfast came more heartfelt speeches and teary eyes and then it was time to get down to party and it did not take long before the dance floor was full and it stayed full. This great couple certainly knew how to throw a party!

I was so honoured to be part of this day, I was made to feel so welcome, like one of the family and it was a pleasure to photograph such a wonderful couple. I love the emotion and the glamour that was captured throughoout the day and my particular favourite was the last photograph I took of the first dance.

♥ Boudoir Photography – Essex ♥

Just a few weeks ago I had a fabulous day with 3 amazing ladies who came for a boudoir session. They knew that it was the first time that I had tried boudoir photography, but they had faith and I am so grateful to these lovely ladies not only for giving me this opportunity, but also for allowing me to share the images with you. They are all truly amazing and I feel like they came as clients and left as my friends.

Champagne and Strawberries and Butterflies

On the day of the shoot I was so nervous with butterflies in my tummy as I hurriedly finished the final touches and prepared champagne, strawberries and cupcakes for the girls arrival. The fabulous Natalie Mulcrone of Make-Up 4U arrived and set up in the make-up room aka pamper parlour! The girls arrived shortly after and once I saw their beaming smiles I soon relaxed.. I knew it was going to be a good day and that they would be lots of fun to work with

Lights Camera Action

I had prepared 2 scenes to use: A more dark/sultry look against a black background using a chaise and something a little more pretty and feminine using a bed and vintage styled props. Once make-up was complete and outfits chosen the shooting was underway and we seriously had a LOT of fun. I was buzzing both during and after the shoot and it was so nice to do something a bit different and try to push me as a photographer to be more creative and to think carefully about lighting and posing.

Doing this shoot has definitely left me hungry for more.. so please if you are interested please do get in touch, I promise to make you feel very comfortable and very beautiful.

The Reid Rooms Essex

The Reid Rooms is an award winning venue built nearly 200 years ago originally as stables for the working horses on Marks Hall Farm, Margaret Roding. The Reid Rooms has always been a personal favourite venue and I have been lucky enough to photograph several weddings at this beautiful venue. I love it not only because it is a perfect setting amonsgt rural countryside with timeless charm, but also because the staff have always been so very warm, friendly and welcoming. The wedding of Michele and Steve was no exception, I was greeted by their wedding co-ordinator and we ran through the schedule for the day before I went to meet the bridal party in the Farmhouse where bridal preparations were well underway.

Come Rain or Shine

On our arrival the weather looked a bit iffy and Michele peered anxiously out of the window as the showers began, but I tried to re-assure her that it is lucky to rain on your wedding day! Shortly after the showers passed and the sun shone through for what turned out to be a glorious summers day.  Michele looked stunning in her wedding dress and her father was so proud as she made her way down the stair case to greet her parents who were waiting for her in the hall. The ceremony was emotional but perfect in everyway and I had so much fun with the couple afterwards capturing some romantic images for them both.

Something else to say about Michele and Steve is that they are head over heels in love with each other and it showed. They could not wait to become husband and wife and clearly adored one another so when it came to their photographs they did not need much direction from me they just looked so happy, so caught up in the moment and so very in love that this just shone through in all of their images.

Wear your heart on your Sleeve

One of my favourite aspects of all weddings is the pure emotion that surrounds you, the love, the Joy and the happiness as friends and family unite to share in a very special once in a lifetime day and I do love people who (like me) wear their heart of their sleeve and this was very true of this couple, especially the Groom who is known for being quite an emotional chap. So of course on his wedding day the tears were flowing both before, during and after the ceremony! These guys not only had a lot of love for each other but they also a lot of love to share and it really was an absolute pleasure and a great honour for me to capture their special day.

New Beginnings

At the time of writing this blog some months have past since this couples very special day and I am delighted to say that Michele gave birth to a beautiful baby girl last week weighing a tiny 4Lb 10 called Ruby! Both Mum and Baby are doing well and I could not be more thrilled for them. What a wonderful way to begin married life not only with eachother but now also with a precious new baby girl to love, nurture and cherish…

Essex Wedding Photography –  The Reid Rooms Photos

For my first blog of 2012 I wanted to share with you all a personal project I have set myself for this year: “At Home with Jack”.

I am sure any parent can relate to the fact that our children seem to grow up so fast, it might seem like only yesterday that we were cradling our babies in our arms, but soon they are crawling about, babbling and before we know it running, jumping around and getting up to all sorts of mischief. My son Jack is now 2 and half years and means more to me than anything in the world. He is such a joy to be around, is full of character and has enriched my life More than Words, but he is changing so fast and it recently dawned on me that I really do not have any photographs of him just at home being Jack. I have taken lots on family photographs on days out and holidays but never really pick up the camera when we have our Mummy/Jack at home days doing all the things that Jack loves. He has already outgrown so many toys, books and t.v. programmes that he maybe once loved and I would hate to forget all of those little things that were all part of his childhood. I have therefore set myself a personal challenge to try and capture those simple day to day moments that seems to pass by so quickly.

So my project will be to take a least 1 photograph a week of Jack at Home doing his everyday things, totally natural and unposed. They might not necessarily be technically the most perfect images since they will be very much spur of the moment, but to me they will be precious and will provide everlasting memories of his childhood and hopefully capture his wonderful spirit.

I am also going to use this as an opportunity to have fun in Photoshop and try out some different editing techniques, which is not something I have had much time to dabble with until now. Since starting photography I have tried to focus on learning the craft and getting images technically correct in camera to minimise work in post production. I like my images especially wedding photos to look clean and crisp and true to the actual events. Having said this I do love Photoshop, it is a powerful tool and is a huge learning curve in itself and this will be a good opportunity for me to have some fun and play around with different editing styles and techniques. I especially love the ‘Vintage Look and Feel’ that is very fashionable right now and adds a bit of a twist to everyday images so this might be a style you see cropping up with this personal project.

I am not sure if I will manage weekly updates, but I certainly will try and post a minimum of once a month and if you are a parent why not get involved yourself and undertake a similar project, you don’t need a professional camera just keep yours eyes out for those everyday little things that our children do that make them who they are and capture their individual little personalities.
